Dr Allister Taggart, MD, FRCP (Edin), FRCP (Lond).

Specialty: Rheumatology.

Dr Taggart is Consultant Rheumatologist at the Musgrave Park and Belfast City Hospitals. He is Lead Clinician in Rheumatology for the Belfast Hospitals Trust and Honorary Lecturer at the Queen’s University of Belfast.

Dr Taggart trained in  both Belfast and Leeds and is a past President of the Irish Society for Rheumatology. He has published widely in the field of clinical rheumatology and has research interests in the new anti-TNF drugs for severe arthritis and the use of ultrasound as a clinical tool in rheumatology.

He specialises in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and gout. He has extensive experience in the use of ultrasound guided joint injection which is particularly useful for the treatment of painful shoulders and tennis elbow.
